Top Gear: 2009 K2 Believer
If you’re looking for the perfect high performance park board, that has been tweaked just enough to perform equally well in the back country, I strongly suggest you demo the Believer, one of the boards from K2’s 2008 – 2009 Progression series. The Believer features an extended Hybritaper nose and tail, which go above and beyond to provide a better float and reduce swing weight, while the stringer forks (1 degree Base, carbon matrix) indulge the rider with some solid pop.
The Believer has been slimmed down and beefed up since its last iteration to give a lively flex on the ground and weightless feel through the air. A longer tip and tail and twin tip Hyper Progressive sidecut instill confidence that this snowboard has the stability you need to maintain every spin (even if they end in a face plant as mine so regularly do).
Designed and inspired by Eero Niemela, Louie Fountain and Shaun Mckay, this board has taken into account a breadth of knowledge about freestyle performance and tweaked it for the needs of the versatile boarder alike. Again, the twin tip Hyper Progressive sidecut combine beautifully with the Hybritaper construction, instilling confidence in my baby spins with stability and control while the WH3 Core (two strips of Honeykomb material sandwiched between the bindings and the rails) takes lightweight strength and lively flex to a new level.
The 2009 Believer has a dark face and a bright base to let you move unnoticed right up until the moment you drop a huge table, or flip a 920 in the pipe (provided I was actually capable of such insanity). Regardless of my inability to pull anything but intermediate tricks without pulling things that really do need to stay where they are, everything about the Believer snowboard, is light, fun and stable.
