Resort Profile- Telluride
Telluride is located amidst to highest concentration of 14,000 peaks in the US. Its name is notable, but the layout of the resort and the distribution of the runs makes for an uncrowded experience on the slopes. With a longest run that stretches for nearly 5 miles, it’s not hard for skiers and snowboarders to appreciate Telluride for its pure skiability.
The magic of Telluride is in the mix of runs. Higher elevations bring more difficult runs at most resorts. This is the case at Telluride, but there are also intermediate runs at over 11,000 feet, meaning everyone can appreciate the scenic views and lengthy rides.
Telluride also boasts three terrain parks, each one aimed at different skill levels.
Telluride began as a mining town more than 100 years ago. Some of the historic flavor still exists in the twin townso f Mountain Village and Telluride. Victorian homes and old-style storefronts hearken back to pre-skiing times. But, these resort destinations are not just about the slopes and the past. There is a progressive element as well. Classic, classy saloons are more retro than kitsch and cool eateries like La Marmotte are more French Alps than Colorado Rockies.
Telluride offers one of the more uncrowded winter sports experiences in the Colorado Rockies. There is literally something for every skier and boarder.
