Resort Profile- Sun Valley
Sun Valley’s ski and snowboard resort has 85 runs spread over two mountains. This Idaho resort is one of the nation’s most scenic snow sports areas. The centerpiece of Sun Valley is Bald Mountain. Since 1936, skiers have been coming to the slopes of this mountain for its varied terrain and laid-back atmosphere.
Sun Valley has a variety of trails catering to skiers and snowboarders of all experience and skill levels. Most of the trails are found on Bald Mountain, but the smaller Dollar Mountain is home to a handful of well-groomed runs aimed at novice riders and those who want to warm up before hitting the more challenging terrain. Combine the two mountains, and you get more than 2,000 acres of terrain for skiing and snowboarding.
Snowboarders will also find the 18 foot walls of the giant half-pipe quite challenging. A newly constructed terrain park with rails and varied topography has alos been earning rave reviews from users.
Sun Valley is a vacation playground year round. There are 4 lodges near the mountains. River Run Plaza offers a laid back family-style vibe, while Warm Springs Lodge features a more upscale vibe with after-hours cocktails and a restaurant serving wood-fired pizza and gourmet salads.
Sun Valley is a classic ski resort with plenty of modern amenities to suit even the most cutting edge snowboard rider.
