Resort Profile- Steamboat

Steamboat is not only a well known ski spot in the Colorado Rockies, it is the hometown of more Olympic winter athletes than any other place in the US.  Taking in Steamboat’s vistas, it’s easy to see why that is the case.  There are multiple peaks rising nearly 10,000 feet above sea level.  There are nearly 3,000 acres of terrain, almost half aimed at advanced skiers.  Steamboat is famous for its back country skiing and its deep, fluffy powder, which it has dubbed Champaign powder.  Snowboarders will find the 18’ walls of the superpipe suitable for all kinds of free riding.  Known as the Maverick Superpipe, it is one of the most well known half-pipe’s in the Rockies.  There is only one snowboard park, but it is a monster.

After a day on the slopes, Steamboat doesn’t let up on the action.  Steamboat is still home to a small ranching community, a reminder of the town’s history.  But that doesn’t not mean that the town is all quaintness and no excitement.  There ar nearly 100 bars in and around Steamboat.  World-class chefs ply their trade at Mountainside eateries like Hazie’s and Ragnar’s.  There are also condos and hotels to suite every taste and budget level.  Steamboat is the complete package when it comes to a ski and snowboard vacation.
